Ways to use picture guides, rulers, and grids

Microsoft PhotoDraw includes options for aligning objects and laying out your picture:

Turn on picture guides   By default, the picture guides are locked and invisible. If you want to use the guides to shrink or enlarge the picture area, you can unlock them. Lock or unlock picture guides

Drag picture guides   After you've turned on the picture guides, you can drag them to resize the picture area. Resize the picture area by dragging picture guides

Snap objects to invisible gridlines   You can use the grid, an invisible network of lines, to help you align shapes, lines, or other objects. By default, the grid is turned off. If you select Snap to Grid, objects that you drag on the picture area are aligned with the nearest intersection of gridlines. Snap objects to an invisible grid

Change gridline spacing   You can change the vertical and horizontal spacing between invisible gridlines for all future pictures or for the active picture only. Doing so can help you align objects more precisely. Change the spacing of invisible gridlines

Check the position of objects   By default, rulers appear along the top and left edges of the workspace. You can use these rulers to view the position of objects in the workspace. The highlighted area that appears on either ruler shows the location of the selected object on the picture area. Turn rulers on or off

Change unit of measure   You can display a different unit of measurement ù for example, pixels instead of inches ù on the rulers and the status bar. Change the default unit of measurement
